The Test Pak consists of 2 programs: Test Maker and Test Master. Test Maker is used to CREATE personal word lists for use in LA Master (spelling and reading practice). It is also used to create True/False and Multiple Choice activities in any subject area (science, history, geography etc) to be USED in Test Master. After the teacher/tutor creates the activities, the student uses the Test Master program to answer the questions (sets of 10 within Master lists with multiple sets). These may be done on screen, with printable session results, and they may also be printed out, complete with answer keys, for written classroom work.

In the partial screenshot below, the 3 options are shown - in this case, the Personal Word dropdown list option is displayed. The instructor simply selects one, gives it a name (3rd grade words, Bill's lists, etc) and then types in and saves the lists. The student can then practice spelling and reading in L. A. Master by selecting the master list and choosing one of the 20 word sets. There are 36 sets of 20 in each master list that may be used.

Test Maker

Test Maker's primary use is to add personal word lists to the 4000 plus words that L. A. Master already contains. This gives greater use to L. A. Master in that you can incorporate any other curriculum into the items already available. Adding the word lists, which can be designated for each child with a personal word list (each master list contains 36 sets of 20 words potentially) is very easy and quick. For example, you might name a master list "Sally's words" or "Second Grade lists" or "Science Terms" etc. Any category is possible as you add words of a common nature. Each child, or class, or level can have a Master List designated specifically for ease of selection later on in L. A. Master.

Using the True/False option requires more work but is the second easiest option to use. Selecting any subject area (history, for example), the instructor creates 10 True/False statements per activity and inputs them for use by the student in Test Master. These activities are saved and may be used year after year with succeeding classes/students. For teachers who need to create testing activities for written or on screen tests, this is a good option.

Using the Multiple Choice option requires the most effort since the instructor needs to create and type in a question and 3 options - a, b, c - plus a correct answer for each item (10 per activity with option D being "None of the above"). Teachers who need M/C activities and tests find this option worthwhile but the amount of effort needed to utilize it is significant. It is recommended that the T/F option be used first, where applicable. Since all activities are saved for later use in Test Master, the activities need only be created once for years of use. Once completed, they may be used to create printable or on screen tests and activities in all subject areas. Teachers use them for testing US Presidents, state capitals, historical dates, science terms and concepts, geographical questions etc.
