Try these samples with your children now

To get an idea of whether or not your children have mastered many of the important math facts, skills, and concepts, ask your child to come to the computer to try these math problems now (either orally or you may print this list and try them later). All of these (and many more) are covered in the Soft-Pak math programs and since random generation is used, there is an endless supply of activities, both printable and on-screen, to access until mastery in each area is achieved. These are presented in horizontal form but the actual programs also offer most in column form as well for large number adding, subtracting, multiplying etc. As listed below, there are many other options also: fractions, decimals, time, percents, word problems, geometrics etc.

Other skills and concepts that are covered in the math programs:

FRACTIONS (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division plus converting from mixed to improper and from improper to mixed fractions - each process demonstrated and problems offered)

DECIMALS (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of large numbers with emphasis on proper decimal point placement)

PERCENTS (finding percentage and percent of: what is 34% of 89? and 22 is what % of 33?)

RATIOS (7 is to 28 as 9 is to __?)

ESTIMATING (finding answers within 5%, 10% or 20% accuracy for addition, subtraction, multiplication, divsion of large numbers without using paper or calculator.)

TELLING TIME (clock is displayed with option to verbally express the time displayed - 5:24 or to input the time - hour and minute. May be used to teach time with teacher/tutor help or to practice alone).

GEOMETRIC SHAPES and AREA FORMULAS (learn shape names and how to determine area)

WORD PROBLEMS (900 multi-level word problems in True/False and Multiple Choice format - 3 levels of difficulty A, B, C - from easy to hard. Try these 3 problem samples with or without a calculator - one is built-in in the program for use as needed for larger number work.

  1. (Level a) The girl had 5 nickels and 2 dimes in her pocket. She counted the money and said there was less than 50 cents.
    True or False?

  2. (Level b) If you can go 32 miles on 1 gallon of gas then you need more than 3 gallons to go 100 miles.
    True or False?
