The partial screen shots below represent a tiny fraction of the huge number of different activity pages that are available in the 7 Soft-Pak programs. The user may now select from background colors of WHITE, GRAY, or BLUE simply by clicking the screen. See samples of each type below. The screen shots displayed here are partial images of the full screens to save space and reduce image file size for quicker downloads (therefore, some may appear less than perfectly sharp but they do give a good idea of the activity's objective).
Each activity is designed to assist the student in the mastery of a different math or language arts objective. Below you will see activities from Math Maker, Math Master, Math User, True/False Math Challenger, and Language Arts Master. You may also see other images on the individual program pages in the next screen.
Math Maker
This is the Math Maker printable options page. Up to 35 copies, with or without answer key(s), may be printed. A preview option allows the user to see a sample of the print before selecting. Point and click to print with no wasted time setting up a worksheet. With random generation, every print is different each time so the user may stay with any objective until mastery is achieved, unlike static, expensive workbooks.
Math User
This is the Math User True/False option. There are 900 word problems, broken down into easy, intermediate, and difficult (Levels a, b, c). There is a built-in calculator for large number work. These problems are crucial for true mastery and the application of facts and concepts already learned. Multiple Choice problems are also included. These 900 word problems may also be printed in Math Maker.
Math Master
This is the Math Master on screen program. It offers a huge number of activities that cover almost every objective. In this option, fractions are covered. The user must determine which of the 3 fractions, when added to the left side fraction, equal the total of 1 (1/1).
This option demonstrates how to divide fractions and then to reduce the fraction to the lowest denominator.
This option deals with negative numbers (adding and subtracting). The visual helps the user see how to add and subtract numbers to and from any starting number, either negative or positive. The program provides a starting point and the user must click the number button of the answer. Notice the blue background, as opposed to the above gray (all user selectable).
Division is displayed here. The user must determine how many of a selected number can fit into the larger number, with how many left over (the remainder). The next image shows an example of an answer once the user tries the problem. This helps greatly with understanding division and remainders.
There are some motivational activities included. In this case below, the user must determine how much the items for sale will cost and whether or not there is enough money to pay for them. Also, how much change will be coming back. This is excellent for real world practice, using money as a means to calculate mentally.
True/False Math Challenger
True/False Math Challenger uses a unique method to teach math facts 1-12. The user must click either T or F, depending on the math 'fact' displayed, to accomplish certain goals (timed and untimed). Teams may compete, with scores kept. In this case, the user must beat the other racer to the finish line by answering the t or f questions. Notice how the True ones are underlined in blue while the False ones are underlined in red as the answers are clicked. This allows for review after the race to see which are real facts and which are not.
In this case, greater than > and < less than is used. The user must decide which ones are true and which are not. In this example, all items use the > greater than option. Other options include < and mixed > and < items to challenge the user.
Language Arts Master
Language Arts Master offers a large number of options, with the option selection page shown here.
Here the Spelling Find and Fix option is shown. LA Master offers over 4000 words and this option allows the user to find and then correctly spell the incorrect word.
In this option, the user reads the words presented. This option may also be used to practice spelling the words. Notice the PERSONAL word lists option - these words may be added using the Test Maker program to supplement the 4000 words already included. This makes the program much more flexible since any vocabulary words used in a particular curriculun may be used as well.
This partial screen shot shows a reading recall activity. The user reads a five line passage and then answers 3 questions about the details of the passage. This requires the reader to concentrate on facts presented and to retain them.
This grammar option involves parts of speech recognition. The user must identify the correct part of speech and click the corresponding button. Examples and definitions are provided for help.
This option requires the user to identify and correct 2 writing errors (some sentences contain no errors and the user must also indicate this). Spelling, usage, apostrophes, and ending punctuation are covered.
