Norah Jones - Come Away With Me

Norah Jones is a superb vocalist, her smooth, mellow, sexy tone makes this a perfect CD to set the mood with that special someone. Her later CD, “Feels Like Home” is just as good, but I think I prefer this one more, as I have listened to it more often. My favorite song on this CD is “Don’t Know Why” This is one CD that is very enjoyable from beginning to end.

KT Tunstall, A very folksy type album, especially her recent hit, “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” I bought the CD for that particular song, but found that I liked the rest of the songs on the CD. This CD is a great one to put on and let play through the entire selection of songs. It wouldn’t surprise me to see one of her other songs make the charts soon.

Ever since I have discovered Train, I have been a fan since, their earlier hit, “Meet Virginia.” My favorite song is their latest song, “Cab.” Before “Cab” came out, my favorite was “Drops of Jupiter.” Actually they are all good, I hope to see these guys live someday. They recently played in Albany, NY, but didn’t have the cash to go and see them at the time.

The first time I saw this quartet perform was on ABC-TV’s Good Morning America, the sound on my poor little 13” kitchen TV just did not do them any justice, however seeing their performance was enough for me to go out and purchase this CD. Not only are these women very talented, they are also good looking! Their music is a hard to describe balance between classical and heavy metal genres. Their instruments they play are equally hard to describe, prehaps the best way to sum it up is new age classical. Their music is equally as powerful as their performance, if you listen to this loud, make sure your sound system can handle the dynamics. If you have cheap speakers, definitely keep the volume down, it will ruin your experience of this CD, and possibly your speakers!

Jeb Barry describes himself as a “rootsy Ryan Adams.” Jeb’s style is folk in nature and has performed at many folk festivals in the region. Much of his latest work has been solo, this particular album features Mike O’Neill. Jeb and Mike have also collaborated on several CD’s under the name “Busted Trucks.” This music is as homegrown as you can get. Both men hail from Adams, MA and much of the music on all their albums was mastered in Mike’s North Adams basement. You can visit Jeb Barry’s site at www.jebbarry.com Mike and Jeb, used to perform regularly at the Water Street Grill in Williamstown, MA. They haven’t performed in quite a while, here’s hoping for another show soon!
